Existence Not Necessary

5.89 The Yard Truck shall have the capability to remove all ballast weight by 2 persons, with the aid of mechanical devices, in 60 minutes.

Comment – An object is forced to exist if a true relation on it exists. From the statement, "ballast" exists. It has a characteristic value of its mass, which at the end of reading still includes zero, meaning it need not exist.

This lack of necessary existence allows the situation where, by mistake, wiring has been passed through a hole in the ballast, preventing removal in 60 minutes. So it is tackwelded to the frame and is no longer ballast.

The use of characteristic value should probably also apply to the breaking strain and length of the winch rope for the winch:

5.75 The Yard Truck shall be capable of winching its own maximum weight should the vehicle become entrapped in loose dry or wet soil.

The statement forces the existence of a winch.

The reference to "maximum weight" gives an indication of the breaking strain, but no estimate of rope length is available.
