Duplication

In a large specification, it is common for the writer to forget where they are up to, and duplicate an existing requirement.

Here are several examples from a small specification:

5.26           A mounted operator’s cabin shall be provided that will comfortably accommodate the operator and at least two other occupants, allowing for 360 degree clear vision for the operator.

5.111         The tow motor shall provide the operator with a 360 degree external field of vision of the vehicle when sitting in the operator’s seat.

And

5.28           ......  Cabin seating shall conform to ISO 7096.

5.106         The tow motor shall be fitted with seats that are ergonomic and conform to ISO 7096:2000.

And

5.105         The tow motor shall be designed to the human engineering requirements of SAE 1247C.

5.110         The tow motor shall have human engineering design requirements that conform to SAE ARP 1247C.

Usually, a duplication is a few pages away, not five lines away (this example deserves to be reported for sloppiness as well - the two different ways the standard is described).

Duplication is not reported if one of the statements is not a mandatory requirement, as

5.5             The primary function of a tow motor is to provide a towing capability for Defence fixed and rotary wing aircraft with up to a maximum take-off weight of 150,000 Kg at established airfields or other fixed facility installations.

5.10           The tow motor shall be capable of operating in forward and reverse when towing or pushing a maximum weight of 150,000 Kg.
